Thursday May 14, 2009

Today was another quiet day. Lisa continues to progress on her breathing and they were able to lower the oxygen concentration again as a result. They continue to focus on the sepsis and fight it aggressively with the antibiotics. They are also dealing with the effects of the aggressive antibiotics as we found out today, she now has a bacterial infection that is a result of the antibiotics being so strong they reduce the population of good bacteria which then allows bad bacteria which is always present to grow. They tell us this is fairly common in situations like this. So ironically they are now adding a new antibiotic to combat this new issue.

Thank you for you prayers, encouragement and support.

Jim, Josh and Melissa.

  1. Hi Lisa,
Thank goodness your doctors always have a comeback for every time a new situation turns up. I think it is about time for all of this to turn around and things to be back the way they were before the last surgery. I hope soon you will be breathing on your own again and working out to regain your strength. So many prayers are being said for you and many positive thoughts are coming your way. We are all here for you.
    Love,
    Sandy Saldano

  2. Dear Lisa,
As long as there are improvements in some areas, the others will follow along, and you will be able to once again be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather we are now having.
I am anxious for you to reach your goal of returning home and keep you in my thoughts and prayers every day.
Thank you Jim, Josh, and Melissa for including all of us in Lisa's daily progress and recovery.
Love to all. Louie and Jackie
