Sunday May 3, 2009

The responsive nursing and respiratory staff worked hard last night and they were able to stabilize mom and bring her stats to a more normalized range. They’ve placed her on a pulsating ventilator that has been running for 24 hours now and seems to be doing its job. Because they are now seeing that she will be on the ventilator for longer than a couple of days, she has a scheduled tracheotomy for tomorrow.
The good news is that the surgery to fix her liver function has worked and her system is flushing quite nicely. Although mom enjoyed the new tint of her skin that the jaundice provided we appreciate the more pinkish tone she is fading back into. Thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers… we appreciate your continued love and support.

  2. I am here to parrot everything that Lynda said. We are all on the cheerleading team for Lisa...and all of you as well. It sounds as though things are on the upswing now. Please do call if there is anything that any one or all of us can do to make things easier for Lisa and you. I know I am just waiting for that call. In the meantime I will be thinking of you.
    With love,
    Donna

  4. Lisa, I can't tell you how grateful I am to your family for keeping this blog so that everyone that loves you can keep up with your fight. For all your leaps forward I guess there are bound to be some bumps in the road, and I'm glad to read that you are getting yourself over them, and back on track. As I've said before, you are missed more than you can even imagine and loved as well. Hang in there and stay strong.

  6. Hi Lisa,
I am glad that the medical staff knows just what to do to make it easier for you to recover from your procedure. I hope you will soon be able to breathe on your own soon. You have come through this before and I know you can do this again. Hang in there. I know there are bluer skies ahead for you.

  7. As everyone has said, you are one strong cookie!! We all say the same thing, more or less, that you are amazing, incredibly strong, have a wonderful family (beyond belief), and have the willpower of a saint. Thank you for doing this for all of us. Keep on the path that leads you home. Love and prayers, Leslie

  8. Dear Lisa and Family,
Yes, as reiterated above, you all continue to amaze us with your strength and stamina! I am so glad to hear the positive progress of the most recent bump in the road and am grateful to the medical staff for staying on top of it! Take this time and build up your strength, Lisa, and I'm sure once the infection and fluid start to subside, you will come back stronger than ever! Team Lisa continues to support you in prayer, thanksgiving, and positive thoughts. Please let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do to ease any of extraneous matters, so you all can focus on the continued road ahead. Lisa, I miss you so much, but I am thankful that, even though it has been a long, hard road, you keep persevering toward your goal, no matter what blocks your way! Keep it up and we are with you! Thank you Jim, Melissa, and Josh for keeping us in the loop!
    Love,
    Nurse Judy
