Thursday May 28, 2009

Hello All,

Again, The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 30, 2009, at Grace First Presbyterian Church in Long Beach. It is located at 3955 Studebaker Road, Long Beach, CA 90808.

The graveside service will be held immediately following at Forest Lawn in Cypress.

If you don not wish to attend the graveside service, we could use a couple of volunteers to help set up at the Stephenson household.

The Stephenson Home will be hosting a reception to celebrate Lisa's life after the graveside service, all are welcome.

If you would like to make a charitable donation in Lisa's name in lieue of flowers, our first choice would be Grace First Presbyterian Church at the address above(To be used in the children's ministry). They will accept Cash or check donation.

The second option is the Breast Cancer Care & Research Fund, 6022 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 201, Los Angeles, CA 90036

Thank you all for your support and prayers!

With Love,

Joshua, Melissa, and Jim

  1. Dear Clan Stephenson,
From the moment I met Lisa I fely as though I had known her for years. The first time I walked into her office my attention was drawn to the picture of men in kilts! I knew from that moment that we would share a special connection. I first met Jim at the Queen Mary Scottish games he was wearing his kilt and judging the highland dancing competition. I went with my sister and called Lisa so that we could enjoy the games together. We had many conversations about Highland games, Melissa's dancing and Jim's judging. She also enjoyed talking about Josh and her beautiful grandchildren. She beamed every time she talked about each of you. I can understand why. Through this journey you have proven what FAMILY truely means, Love, Support, Caring, Compassion and Selflessness.

I would also like to add to Donna's comment from yesterday about our OI students. Our OI (orthopedically impaired) students are the most amazing people I have ever met. They are faced with more challenges than most of us will ever have and yet they are the most positive people I know. I have told many of their parents that their child does as much for me as I do for them. I have been faced with a range of challenges over the years and I truely believe that if it wasn't for the positive energy of my students each and every day those hard times would have been even harder. Just being around this special group of children makes your heart soar, puts a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
I am truely one of the luckiest teachers in LBUSD to have the honor of working with these fantastic kids.

    Love and Prayers,
    Jean

  2. Dearest Jim, Josh, and Melissa,
I'm so glad you mentioned volunteers to set up the household--I was going to call today to ask if I could do exactly that! You have given me such a wonderful gift in allowing me to be part of your extended family the past months--a gift I will always treasure. I am very pleased to be able to do a little something for you.
    With much love from Monica
