Tuesday March 24, 2009

Today was a frustrating day for Lisa. They performed a video evaluation of her swallowing and determined that she still has muscle weakness in the throat related to the mechanics of swallowing as well as the need to re-develop the muscles instinctive responses. As you all know this does not sit well with Lisa. She continuously expects to be moving forward and knows this is an essential step toward getting home. It is a minor setback and they have a plan to try and help stimulate and strengthen the muscles. Meanwhile we will have to deal with her frustration and know that tomorrow is another day!

Thank you for your continued prayers and support and please know that your freindship, support and prayers are what sustain us through this journey.

  1. Hi Lisa,
I'm sorry today did not go the way you wanted and expected it to. You have gone through and overcome so many things in this stage of your recovery. I just know you will be able to eat again soon. I will say a lot of prayers that things will turn around quickly.
    Much love,

  2. Dearest Lisa and Family,
I can only imagine how frustrating this latest bump in the road must be. The distance you have traveled is amazing, and you WILL keep moving forward! We continue to be with you on your journey, every step of the way.

  3. Dar Lisa,
You have made such amazing progress in a short time! I'm sure it is disappointing to have this obstacle. Remember how good you are at problem solving and keeping a perspective on continuous improvement. Those muscles probably need a little exercise like all the rest. A table awaits you at CPK one day soon. In the meantime stay strong.
As always, I'm thinking of you and so appreciate the wonderful daily updates.
    Love from Donna

  4. Dear Lisa,
Thank goodness they are able to understand what is going on with all the modern advances in medicine. While difficult to hear, it gives them, and you, more ammunition to fight what is going on and move forward. We love you. Louie and Jackie

  5. That's our girl! Frustrated that she can't do more in such a short time frame. This is why you are making such a miraculuos recovery, because you have the detemination of a heavyweight boxer! Prayers, love, and smiles :)! Leslie
